Professor Speaks at Teaching Conference

Dr. Trisha Stan participated in a panel discussion at the annual Midwest Scholars Conference regarding teaching methods for general education courses. The panel consisted of five veteran professors from a variety of disciplines. Dr. Stan shared the approach she uses when teaching "Chemistry for Living", one of Taylor University's general education chemistry courses, to build connections between course content and students' lives. One aspect of her approach is to help students think about the environmental and chemical issues in their home towns. Discussions about water pollution, for example, begin to take on more meaning as students evaluate the water quality reports from their local (home town) municipal water facility.
